Peter has been appointed as senior counsel assisting the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
Peter is regularly briefed in occupational health and safety cases.
He also practises in public inquiry law, coronial law and industrial law.
Peter appeared as junior counsel assisting in the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission (2010-11) and in the first Hazelwood Mine Fire Board of Inquiry (2014).
In 2015-16, Peter was counsel assisting the second Hazelwood Mine Fire Board of Inquiry.
Peter was also a consultant to the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into the CFA Fiskville Training Facility in 2015- 16.
Peter has been a consultant to the International Labour Organisation and to State, Territory and Commonwealth governments in the field of occupational health and safety law.
He regularly provides training to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and the Fair Work Commission.
Academic Position /
- Peter is a fellow of the Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law at the University of Melbourne where he teaches Workplace Health and Safety Law in the Law faculty’s postgraduate studies program.
- Peter is the co-author, together with Breen Creighton, of ‘Occupational Health and Safety Law in Victoria’ now in its third edition (Federation Press, 2007).
- He is also the joint original author of the ‘Annotated Model Work Health and Safety Act’ loose-leaf service originally published in 2012 by Lexis Nexis as well as numerous articles and case notes about occupational health and safety law.
