Chris Jensen practices in public and commercial law and accepts a broad range of briefs in these areas. He has extensive experience in environmental law and regulatory compliance.
Before joining the bar Chris was employed as a Senior Solicitor in the Government and Public Law branch at the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office. He acted for and advised State Government Departments and regulatory bodies with diverse responsibilities, including in the areas of:
- Environment and planning
- Liquor licensing
- Industry and profession regulation – including building industry
- Local government
Prior to that, Chris was a solicitor at the Department of Sustainability and Environment. He conducted summary prosecutions and provided advice in relation to offences under various acts including the Planning and Environment Act, Wildlife Act, Forests Act, and Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act.
Chris has also worked as a solicitor and analyst at the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, where his particular interest was in corporate regulation including directors duties and insolvency.
While at the VGSO, Chris also undertook a secondment to the Department of Health and Human Services where he appeared for the Department in child protection applications in the Children’s Court.
